700,000 Floridians could remain without insurance
A new Kaiser Family Foundation report says Florida’s decision not to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act - often called Obamacare - means that more than 700,000 low-income Floridians could remain uninsured in 2014. Boeing plans to move into former shuttle hangar at KSC this spring
The Boeing Co. said today it plans to move into a former shuttle hangar at Kennedy Space Center in the spring of 2014, where it will assemble CST-100 commercial crew capsules. More at Florida Today.
Broward beats other metros in unemployment drop
Broward County and Palm Beach’s unemployment rates are dropping faster than it is in any other major metropolitan area, according to a new federal report. For August, the most recent month with updated federal data, the Fort Lauderdale metropolitan area saw unemployment plunge to 5.8 percent from 7.7 percent a year before. More at the Miami Herald.
Trade mission yields sales for Florida produce
A recent New Orleans trade mission generated an estimated $28.2 million in immediate sales of fresh Florida produce and other agricultural products and another $49.1 million in projected sales, state Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam said in a press statement released Monday. Swimming Hall of Fame says it's leaving Fort Lauderdale
The International Swimming Hall of Fame says it won't be calling Fort Lauderdale its home anymore. The hall's board of directors voted unanimously last week to end contract negotiations with the city, director Bruce Wigo said Monday. The current 50-year-old agreement expires in February 2015.
